Avant de rejoindre bfinance, Umang occupait un poste de direction chez Barnett Waddingham en tant que consultant en investissement et responsable de la recherche alternative, où il dirigeait la recherche et la stratégie sur les marchés privés et soutenait la prestation de services aux clients. Au début de sa carrière, il a travaillé chez Willis Towers Watson, où il aidait les clients institutionnels en matière de stratégie de financement et d’investissement, après avoir débuté sa carrière chez OCBC, où il a contribué à la surveillance réglementaire et au suivi des risques.

Umang est membre de l'Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, détient le titre de Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) et a obtenu le certificat CFA en marchés privés et investissements alternatifs.
